Laser Fat Reduction Q & A
What is laser fat reduction?
Laser fat reduction is a noninvasive method to get rid of stubborn pockets of fat. Dr. Grier offers Venus Bliss — state-of-the-art equipment that uses multi-polar radiofrequency energy, pulsed electromagnetic fields, and (MP)2 technology to heat and damage fat cells. Your body then flushes out the damaged fat cells with other waste products.
Laser fat reduction with Venus Bliss is safe for all skin types, and tones and targets fat on your abdomen and flanks. It’s most effective if you have a BMI lower than 30.
Dr. Grier provides thorough consultations before recommending Venus Bliss treatment and doesn’t recommend laser fat reduction if you:
- Have open lesions or wounds
- Have an unrepaired abdominal hernia
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have a coagulation disorder
- Have an immunodeficiency disorder
- Have neuropathy
Most people have a series of treatments six weeks apart to achieve the desired results. Dr. Grier provides customized advice, so you know what to expect.
What happens during laser fat reduction treatment?
Each laser fat removal treatment takes 25 minutes. You recline on a treatment table and wear protective goggles. Dr. Grier attaches the unique Venus Bliss four-diode laser applicator to your abdomen or sides and turns on the machine.
The treatment begins with a cooling process to protect your skin. Then, the applicator starts to send the laser energy into your subdermal fat. Venus Bliss alternates between cooling your skin and heating your fat to keep you comfortable.
Most people say that laser fat reduction isn’t painful. You experience shifts between heat and cold, but it shouldn’t hurt.
What should I expect after a laser fat reduction treatment?
You can return to your regular activities as soon as your laser fat reduction treatment is complete. Your skin might look a little flushed, but this subsides quickly. Dr. Grier might recommend that you massage the treatment area for up to 10 minutes, twice a day.
As your body flushes out your unwanted fat, you should notice that your abdomen or flanks look more toned, and you lose inches from your waist measurements. Your skin looks tighter and smoother, and cellulite should fade away.
Everyone responds differently to laser fat removal treatment, and you might need several weeks to see a difference in the shape of your body.
